General Membership Terms and Conditions

In these General Membership Terms and Conditions, we refer to:

•             the Slater Gym Group as the "Slater Gym Group", "we", "our" or "us"; and

•             any prospective member as "prospective member", "you" or "your".

1.      R199 / R249 Single Membership Promotional Offer Terms and Conditions

1.1          The R199 / R249 Single Membership rates as advertised on our website and other social media and advertising platforms are promotional rates offered as a First Visit Incentive and are only available on the first day that a prospective member visits the Club. Thereafter normal rates will apply.

1.2          The Single Membership Promotional Offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other partner/promotional offer or deal.

1.3          The Single Membership Promotional Offer is not valid for existing members.

1.4          Proof of identification (Identity Document or Card / Driver's Licence / Passport) needs to be presented on joining. 

1.5          The Single Membership Promotional Offer is not available for previous members with outstanding fees.

 1.6          Joining Fee & Access Card Fees do apply to all memberships.

1.7 We do have a Zero Joining Fee policy - which means any new member has the option of not having to pay the applicable
Joining Fee subject to the new member being able to provide the company with 10 (Ten) Names and Numbers of friends, family or acquaintances to whom we can send a special Trial Membership Invite.

2.      R299 / R349 Couple Membership Promotional Offer Terms and Conditions

2.1          The R299 / R349 Couple Membership rates as advertised on our website and other social media and advertising platforms are promotional rates offered as a First Visit Incentive and are only available on the first day that a prospective member visits the Club. Thereafter normal rates will apply.

2.2          The Couple Membership Promotional Offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other partner/promotional offer or deal.

2.3          The Couple Membership Promotional Offer is not valid for existing members.

2.4          Proof of identification (Identity Document or Card / Driver's Licence / Passport) needs to be presented on joining. 

2.5          The Couple Membership Promotional Offer is not available for previous members with outstanding fees.

2.6          Joining Fee & Access Card Fees do apply to all memberships.

3.      New Members

3.1    Annual Levy Fee

3.1.1.     An Annual Maintenance Levy is payable by you to us, every year, and will be payable in respect of the period commencing on the date on which the membership agreement came into effect. The Annual Maintenance Levy will be levied in either the month of July or the month of December of each year as follows:

3.1.1.1   If you join between November and April, you will pay the Annual Maintenance Levy in July and this will be collected on the same day as your July Monthly Debit Order.

3.1.1.2   If you join between May and October, you will pay the Annual Maintenance Levy in December and this will be collected on the same day as your December Monthly Debit Order.

3.1.2      The Annual Maintenance Levy is an additional fee which is levied and is not the Monthly Membership Fee but an amount as stipulated in your membership agreement.

3.1.3      The Annual Maintenance Levy will be applied by us in such manner as we may, in our discretion, decide towards on-going maintenance, upgrades and enhancements to the Clubs.

3.2    Monthly Membership Fee

3.2.1      All fixed term membership agreements must be paid in consecutive months in accordance with the term as stipulated in your membership agreement. On expiry of your membership term, and unless you notify us, in writing, that you do not wish to continue as a member, your membership will automatically continue on a month-to-month basis, in which event, either you or us, will have the right to give the other 1 (One) calendar month’s written notice to terminate the membership agreement.

3.2.2      Your monthly membership fees and Annual Maintenance Levy will be collected on the debit order day as specified in your membership agreement. However, if such specified day falls on a public holiday or on a Sunday, then, in such event, membership fees and the Annual Maintenance Levy will be collected on either the day preceding the specified day or on the first business day following the specified day, the election being made by us in our sole discretion.

3.3    Termination of a Membership

3.3.1      You may terminate a Membership Agreement:

3.3.1.1   during the Cooling-Off Period which is 5 (Five) business days calculated from the date on which you sign the Membership Agreement; or

3.3.1.2   with effect from the date on which the Fixed Term expires by formal notice, in writing, given to us no later than 1 (One) calendar month before the date on which such Fixed Term expires; or

3.3.1.3   with effect from any time during the Fixed Term, on 1 (One) calendar month's formal notice, in writing, to us, subject to the provisions of Clause 4.3.3 hereunder.

3.3.2      We may, during the Fixed Term, terminate this agreement 30 (Thirty) business day's after giving you written notice to remedy a material breach of this agreement committed by you and you failing to remedy such breach within that period.

3.3.3      Should you terminate a Fixed Term agreement prior to the expiry of the Fixed Term for any reason other than that provided for in this agreement, you will be responsible for all amounts owing to us up until the date of termination and we will be entitled to levy a reasonable cancellation penalty limited and determined in accordance with the guidelines set out in the Consumer Protection Act, Act 68 of 2008, as amended, and, if applicable, the  Regulations thereunder.

4.      Membership Administration Fee

                Should the membership you have joined allow changes, we may apply an administration fee for effecting and registering such changes, including a fee for "freezing" your membership term during any extended periods during which you are absent from our facilities for approved reasons.

5.      Conduct Rules and Policies

                We reserve the right, from time to time, to introduce rules, regulations and policies with regard to general safety and security at our gym facilities and the conduct of members so as to ensure a safe, secure and enjoyable atmosphere and experience for all members, visitors and staff. We further reserve the right to amend these rules, regulations and policies from time to time in such manner, and to such extent, as we may, in our discretion, deem necessary or appropriate.
